Siblings and Bootleg Studios: Fernanda Perez: ANYTIME

I wish I could say that I was born with a camera attached to my right hand. But I wasn't. I wish I could say that photography was something I grew up loving as a child. But I didn't. I did, however, pretend to be a professional photographer on more than one occasion growing up. Mostly when I was bored.

On summer days when school was out, I would stage my very own "professional" studio in a small uninsulated room addition of the house we lived in. That room was HOT in the summer because, did I mention it was UN-insulated? I had no choice though. That was thee play area and there was no way my mom would let me make a mess anywhere else in the house.

My studio came complete with colorful blanket backdrops, our living room decorations aka my props and a little five year old, brown hair brown eyed model. She called herself my little sister. I would dress her up in her best Sunday dress and put makeup on her little face just for kicks. Then I'd make her sit, stand, kneel, smile and dance and she would eat it all up. For about five minutes. Which was right about when the heat in that little room would kick in. She would bust her little five year old tude in the best way a five year old knows how and I would bribe her to make her sit still and when that didn't work, I would just MAKE her. Because that's how big sisters roll.

Fast forward 15 years later. So much is different but somehow the same. I am now pursuing photography full time and my little five year old model? She sits still for more than five minutes, and if she doesn't, I STILL make her.

Here are some images from a recent photo shoot I had with my sister for her upcoming blog. It's in the works and coming very soon so be on the look out for it!

Dear sister. I love you! Thank you for being my guinea pig on more than one occasion!
Makeup and hair By Ally. This little lady rocks her brushes like no body's business. Love working with her!

And here are some pictures from my bootleg studio when ArlethG was still ArlethP. Don't hate on ma skills!

This last one is my favorite. "Fer, kneel and smile in front of those blankets in this sweltering hot room", "No", "DO IT!"
